                                                                                                            The Seven Summits

Photo
The Seven Summits are the highest mountains of each of the seven continents. Summiting all of them is regarded as a mountaineering challenge, first achieved on April 30, 1985 by Richard Bass. - wikipedia. To know more about the seven summits, there's already many great website but I would recommend Alan Arnette's website.  Also, the best book to read is probably climbing the seven summits by senior guide Mike Hamill, a great book to know it all

The list

2 variations of the official 7 summits exist. The bass and Messner list. Both are the same except for Australia. The Bass list consider Mt. Kosciuszko as the highest peak of Australia - mainland only  vs. the Messner list that includes Puncak Jaya (Carstenz Pyramid) for Oceania.  I've decided to go for the Messner list as I believe that Carstenz is truly a adventure and more in the spirit of the challenge compared to Kosciuszko which is a day climb that almost anyone can do easily (read 100 000 trekkers a year).

My ordre to climb the 7 summits

I've decided to go with the logic of starting easy and going harder everytime in order to get the skills, the physical preparation and a good fit in my schedule.
For me, this order was the one that made the most sense but there is no order in which you have to climb the mountains.
