Climbing Ecuador
Ecuador is a very popular destination for climbers with moderate skills that wishes to gain experience on glacier, high altitude without having the ''downside'' of the expedition life as most mountains offer refuge and basic accommodations
A usual trip with include a tour of the Old Quito, a visit at the Otavalo market and the surroundings, some acclimatization hike and climbing 2-3 volcanoes. Some tour operator will even combine it with a tour on the Galapagos Islands (if you extra time)
Cotopaxi used to be the volcano that Ecuador was known for but since it's irruption in 2015, climbing to the summit is not allowed for now so almost all trips have replaced Cotopaxi by Cayambe
Most companies will offer the Cayambe - Antisana combo with different hikes around Quito like Pasochoa or Rucu Pichincha (using the teleferico in town) and a possible extension to climb Chimborazo for a total window of 15-20 days.
I did the Cayambe-Antisana-Chimborazo trip in November 2016. The only regret I have is that I didn't book enough time to go visit the Galapagos at the same time. I guess I'll have to go back.
